BIO

Teporah started playing piano at the age of four. She began studying at the prestigious Peabody Conservatory, where she learned piano, trumpet, theory, and musicianship. 

She also played traditional Balinese Gamelan at the University of Maryland. 

She attended the Walden School for Young Composers, where she learned manuscript writing, theory, and composition for classical instruments and prepared piano. 

From there, she attended the Oberlin Conservatory, where she continued her composition studies, as well as learning about music from world cultures, including living in Bali, and playing in a local gamelan in Ubud. She also studied her own national ethnic Armenian music.

Teporah is also a singer-songwriter. She is both a student and a teacher of the craft of lyric-writing, song structure and more. As the vice-president for the Baltimore Songwriter's Association for a decade, she ran a monthly songwriters showcase, and coordinated educational workshops for members, including touring artists such as David Machnanoff.
